Peasant Girl Feeding Chickens — About This Work
Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, 1800s(?)
About the Work
A standing girl feeds chickens in a lightly worked graphite sketch. The modest action gives the figures a shared centre, with the birds drawing attention towards the ground around her.
The drawing's limited tonal range places importance on small shifts in line. Figure, gesture and surrounding space can be followed without the dense colour or more continuous surface of an oil painting.
The museum's dating remains uncertain, recorded as 1800s(?). That uncertainty is retained rather than narrowed through appearance alone, so the encounter rests on the catalogued subject and the visible work of the pencil.

Why Original Scale?
Most art-print shops offer the same image in a choice of Small, Medium and Large sizes. We take a different approach. For each edition, we begin with the recorded dimensions of the original work and reproduce the complete image at that scale, preserving its proportions and avoiding enlargement, reduction, cropping or distortion.
