These terms
These terms apply when you use palatineeditions.com or purchase goods from Palatine Editions. Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts any consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
Our products
Palatine Editions supplies framed fine-art reproductions of selected public-domain artworks. Each product page describes the work, available frame and material options, and the reproduction dimensions relevant to that edition.
For each work, we begin with the recorded dimensions of the original and reproduce the complete image at that scale, preserving its proportions and avoiding enlargement, reduction, cropping or distortion. The artwork remains at its recorded scale; the frame and surrounding presentation accommodate it. Digital printing works in whole pixels, so translating recorded physical dimensions into a production file can involve negligible technical rounding.
Prints and frames are produced to order by our specialist production and fulfilment partner. Standard Palatine Editions catalogue products are not treated as personalised merely because they are manufactured after an order is placed.
Screen displays vary, so colours viewed online may differ slightly from the finished print. This does not affect your rights where goods do not conform to their description.
Prices and payment
The price of the goods, any applicable tax and any delivery charge are shown before you place your order. Payment is taken using the payment methods made available at checkout. You will have an opportunity to review your order before submitting it.
Orders and contract formation
When you submit an order you are offering to purchase the goods shown in your order on these terms. A contract is formed when Palatine Editions accepts the order and sends electronic confirmation.
If we cannot accept or fulfil an order, for example because of a genuine availability, pricing or technical problem, we will tell you and refund any payment already taken for the affected goods.
Delivery
Delivery destinations, methods, charges and estimated times are described in our Shipping Policy and are shown as applicable during checkout. Delivery dates are estimates unless we expressly agree a guaranteed date.
Cancellation, returns and faulty goods
Our Refund Policy explains change-of-mind cancellation rights, voluntary returns where offered, and remedies for damaged, faulty, misdescribed or incorrect goods.
For consumers in Great Britain, standard Palatine Editions catalogue products remain subject to the statutory distance-selling cancellation regime even though they are produced after the order is placed. Different rules would apply only to goods that are genuinely made to a customer's specifications or clearly personalised where the law permits that exception.
Public-domain artworks and museum references
Palatine Editions is independent of the museums, galleries and collections whose public-domain works or factual information may be referenced on this website. References to those organisations identify or describe the original artworks and do not imply sponsorship, approval or endorsement.
The underlying public-domain artworks are not claimed as Palatine Editions copyright. Original Palatine Editions text, branding, layouts, photography, graphics and other original material may be protected by intellectual-property rights.
Product information and safety
We take reasonable care to describe products accurately and to supply products that are safe for their intended use. Framed works are supplied ready to hang, but the customer is responsible for using wall fixings suitable for the wall construction and the weight of the frame. Do not hang or use a frame that has arrived damaged or with defective hanging hardware; contact us instead.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so. In particular, nothing excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
For consumer purchases, Palatine Editions is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed or for losses relating to a trade, business or profession.
Personal information
We use personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, including Scotland or the United States, you retain any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you and nothing in these terms prevents you from using any court or remedy available to you under applicable consumer law.
