Persian Flowers (2022.250.3) — About This Work
Jean Baptiste Pillement, 1755
About the Work
Twisted roots support long leaves, climbing shoots and a hanging bloom. Delicate stippling creates a sense of botanical texture without portraying a real species.
The print comes from the group of six etched Persian Flowers works by Jean Baptiste Pillement, whose decorative drawings circulated internationally as patterns for other artisans.
Its plate measures 30.9 × 21 cm and the sheet 43 × 29 cm, as recorded by Cleveland. The accession 2022.250.3 must remain attached to this particular composition.

Why Original Scale?
Most art-print shops offer the same image in a choice of Small, Medium and Large sizes. We take a different approach. For each edition, we begin with the recorded dimensions of the original work and reproduce the complete image at that scale, preserving its proportions and avoiding enlargement, reduction, cropping or distortion.
