Sheet of Four Antique Medals — About This Work
Eugène Delacroix, 1825
About the Work
Delacroix arranges four circular antique-medal studies across the lithographic field. The repeated round forms and small changes of figure and inscription create a sheet that is at once archaeological in subject and graphic in execution.
Made in 1825, the work belongs to Delacroix’s early activity as a printmaker. Cleveland’s impression is catalogued as Sheet of Four Antique Medals and the exact Open Access TIFF preserves the complete production extent used by Palatine.
The complete production extent is 31.4 × 23.5 cm. The 30 × 40 cm frame keeps the lithograph at Original Scale and gives the horizontal sheet a modest, deliberate surround.

Why Original Scale?
Most art-print shops offer the same image in a choice of Small, Medium and Large sizes. We take a different approach. For each edition, we begin with the recorded dimensions of the original work and reproduce the complete image at that scale, preserving its proportions and avoiding enlargement, reduction, cropping or distortion.
