The Apple Seller — About This Work
Pierre-Auguste Renoir, c. 1890
About the Work
A young country girl bends forward with a basket of apples toward Renoir’s wife, Aline, who sits beside two children. A small dog leaps into the exchange, adding movement to an otherwise calm scene.
The Cleveland Museum of Art dates the painting to about 1890 and considers it likely to have been made at Essoyes in eastern France. Soft, repeated brushstrokes break sunlight across the figures, ground and surrounding greenery.
The original measures 54.5 × 65.8 cm. The 60 × 80 cm frame follows its vertical proportions closely, preserving the complete painting at Original Scale with measured surrounding space.

Why Original Scale?
Most art-print shops offer the same image in a choice of Small, Medium and Large sizes. We take a different approach.
