The Last Supper — About This Work
Albrecht Dürer, 1510
About the Work
The disciples sit closely around a sturdy table. Christ is distinguished by a halo formed from parallel lines, which also contribute to the shadows of the room. The architecture encloses the gathering rather than opening it into a distant setting.
The Cleveland Museum of Art interprets the image in relation to the Eucharist and the moment when Christ speaks of his fate. The museum also draws attention to the date placed on the table's central trestle, a small detail within a tightly organised composition.
The vaulted ceiling rises above a closely gathered group, while the table projects towards the viewer. Those opposing directions give the scene depth within a narrow upright format. Small exchanges between the disciples remain legible inside the larger architectural enclosure, bringing the public narrative into the space of a shared meal.

Why Original Scale?
Most art-print shops offer the same image in a choice of Small, Medium and Large sizes. We take a different approach. For each edition, we begin with the recorded dimensions of the original work and reproduce the complete image at that scale, preserving its proportions and avoiding enlargement, reduction, cropping or distortion.
