View of Marino (recto) — About This Work
Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, 1827
About the Work
Hillside buildings appear in lightly drawn graphite, their forms organised across the paper rather than enclosed by a heavy boundary. The open surface gives the architectural view a quiet spaciousness.
The museum catalogues the drawing as a view of Marino dated 1827. That identification anchors the subject in a particular place while leaving the character of Corot's drawn description available to close inspection.
The reproduced face is the recto. Keeping its full sheet preserves the intervals around the buildings, allowing the view to retain its character as a drawing made on paper rather than an image expanded to fill a larger frame.

Why Original Scale?
Most art-print shops offer the same image in a choice of Small, Medium and Large sizes. We take a different approach. For each edition, we begin with the recorded dimensions of the original work and reproduce the complete image at that scale, preserving its proportions and avoiding enlargement, reduction, cropping or distortion.
