Wooded Landscape at L'Hermitage, Pontoise — About This Work
Camille Pissarro, 1879
About the Work
Spindly trees partly reveal houses beyond a shaded wooded stretch near Pontoise.
Pissarro combined aquatint, softground and drypoint to suggest grainy shadows and filtered light.
This is a particular state V/V print; the museum separates its plate mark from its overall dimensions.

Why Original Scale?
Most art-print shops offer the same image in a choice of Small, Medium and Large sizes. We take a different approach. For each edition, we begin with the recorded dimensions of the original work and reproduce the complete image at that scale, preserving its proportions and avoiding enlargement, reduction, cropping or distortion.
