Original Scale Edition

Edgar Degas, Diego Martelli, 1879. Degas studies his friend Diego Martelli with bowed head and downcast eyes, using charcoal and white chalk to build a portrait from restrained tonal contrasts.

Original artwork size: 31.3 × 44 cm (W × H)
Palatine presentation: 40 × 50 cm Classic Frame, portrait.

Most art-print shops offer the same image in a choice of Small, Medium and Large sizes. We take a different approach. For each edition, we begin with the recorded dimensions of the original work and reproduce the complete image at that scale, preserving its proportions and avoiding enlargement, reduction, cropping or distortion.

Frame finishes
Black, White or Natural.

Paper & glazing
Enhanced Matte with either Perspex or Moth-Eye glazing.

A considered presentation for every work. We assess each edition individually and recommend the frame, paper and glazing combination we believe best complements the work. Our recommendation is preselected when the page opens, but the choice remains yours.

Recommended presentation: Natural frame + Enhanced Matte + Moth-Eye. We recommend a natural frame to complement the warm brown paper and avoid competing with the charcoal. Enhanced Matte suits the dry drawing surface, while Moth-Eye glazing helps reduce reflections over the subtle white-chalk modelling.
